Slate is a post-punk band from Cardiff, Wales that's absolutely incredible. They've been compared to Fontaines D.C. but they have their own unique sound that blends dissonance and melody perfectly.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THEM:
✓ Their poetry-influenced lyrics (inspired by Rimbaud, Dylan Thomas)
✓ Raw, propulsive sound influenced by Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine
✓ Epic widescreen atmosphere with Jack Shephard's powerful vocals

Just wrapped up another intense training session. The pool felt good today and my butterfly times are improving. Been listening to Slate's "Tabernacl" on repeat - that driving rhythm is perfect for getting in the zone before meets. The team is clicking and Madison is treating me well. Senior state back in Iowa still holds a special place for me, but college swimming is on another level. The people here really do make all the difference. Can't wait to see what we accomplish this season. On Wisconsin! 🦡
